Didier Drogba's goal for Chelsea against Arsenal on Sunday was his sixth in the Premier League season underway, the strike helped to draw level with the Ivorian team-mate Florent Malouda and Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov as a joint top-scorer in the competition.
Drogba got the first hat-trick in the Premiership season on the opening day game at home against West Brom. Chelsea won the match 6-0. Thereafter, the Ivorian had three goals in six games, all as the team began to Stamford Bridge.
Interestingly, all of Drogba goals were in the home matches, one against Stoke City, Blackpool and Arsenal games that Ancelotti's team won 2-0, 4-0 and 2-0, respectively.
Like Drogba, Malouda opened his scoring account in Chelsea open the season against Albion, where he found the back of a rival network twice.
But, unlike Drogba, Malouda has not limited his scoring to start the game. His third goal came in Chelsea 6-0 victory against Wigan, his fourth came in the match against Stoke City, his fifth and sixth in the home game with Blackpool on the 19th September
Also, unlike Drogba, Malouda is not in the starting eleven in every match. In fact, in a match West Ham 11th September, the Frenchman came on as a late second half substitute in the 84th minute.
Berbatov's Manchester United's savior this season, with Wayne Rooney is marking giving the Bulgarian team a chance to prove that Old Trafford is not a one-man outfit, centered around Rooney.
Berbatov started scoring with a strike in United's opener at Old Trafford against Newcastle 15th August. Not to add to his tally in the next game with Fulham, played away at Craven Cottage. Bulgarian striker's second goal this season came in his team winning 3-0 at home against West Ham, 28 August.
Berbatov's next goal came in the away game against Everton, which ended in a 3-3 draw, followed by a hat-trick against Liverpool. His third goal came in injury time, ensuring that the United banked a lot of points from that match.
Berbatov's exclusion from the start of the eleven games away to Sunderland has raised more than a few eyebrows. However, after Sir Alex refusing to talk to the media after the Liverpool match in which the media went to town across the United manager's comments about Torres, nobody was able to discuss reasons for Fergie's team selection, with the great man.
Sunderland's Darren Bent and Manchester United's Carlos Tevez scored five goals every season, and are hot on the heels of the first three in contention for the Golden Boot.
