Visit Your Local Zoological Park
My daughter came into town after driving more than 12 hours to get from North Carolina. And with her three children, 13 years old daughter, 8-year-old son and 5 year old son. She's not planning on having more children, on the road. When he arrived here in Michigan, it was near the end of July 2009 and Michigan's record one of the best summers on record for June and July. I had no problem with that because I was the guy who enjoyed the heat.
My daughter is only here for 6 days and she, my wife and I were trying to figure out where to take the kids for a nice trip. We came to the picnic. Of course, a picnic would be nice and memorable, we thought. Perhaps more memorable for adults than for children. children would probably look like a picnic is just another day in the park and brings the food. So, I quickly dismissed the thought picnic.
Then you have visited our nearest Zoological Park came to mind. It's been several years since my wife and I were in the zoo and our grand kids had never been to our local zoological park. I had been seeing some commercials on TV and in newsprint on a pair of new exhibits at the zoo, and thought it might be worth checking out. Plus, we realized that children will have a better time at the zoo than on a picnic. I remembered the times I was taken to the zoo as a child. Such moments seem to always keep in mind people.
Then we began to consider the cost for 3 adults and 5 children. You see, we also had two other children with us who lived nearby. Then the thought came to mind to call friends who work for the city to see if it cut prices to the zoo. And the wonderful thing happened, as a promotion to get more people out to the zoo, we got free tickets. Now the only thing we had to concern themselves with nominal parking. Awesome! My wife quickly drove to our friends in the office and pick up tickets for less than 2 hours later, we were on our way to the zoo. The weather was ideal, with temperatures in the low 80's, low humidity and a nice 5-10 mph breeze. Very nice.
Since it is not too hot, the animals were more active than it was on a scorching hot day. This visit more enjoyable. Going to the zoo to see all the animals laying around doing nothing is not fun. Spring and autumn months are ideal times to go to the zoo. We really had a nice day. I'm sorry, but I did not bring my camera. These kinds of moments you want to make sure you catch to see the next day.
If you are looking for a great outing, you can not go wrong with the nearest zoological park. If there is no zoo in your area, find the largest city closest to you and call tourism office and ask if they have a zoo.
