Dorothy Dutch asked probing questions Colin Drummond get to the heart paparazzi phenomenon. For those of us who enjoy shamelessly flipping through a celebrity photo stories on-line or off, it can be even more satisfying if we understand the world of Candid Camera.
This interview session is aimed at journalists who provide us with a daily dose of unethical behavior, celebrity photos, gossip, news, and entertainment news, even before the premiere entertainment shows come into our living rooms. Drummond's answers offer an amazing eye view of the world behind the candid cameras of paparazzi.
Dorothy Dutch: Are the paparazzi and the writers or photographers usually only
Colin Drummond: Most of the photographers and a former photographer who go to start their own agencies. They work on day rate (standard pay for one day). This is known as a freelancing. It is better for them, because they still own their pictures or videos. Most of the paparazzi are freelance photographers who work for agencies that sell their photos taken and agencies rez.Dobar agency has a strong sales team and can get the photos on TV shows, magazines, posters, and even within the film marketing material.
DD: What qualifications must have paparazzi
CD: Papa must have a workable photographic equipment, knowledge of celebrities, you know how to photograph, and be able to ask the big questions. For the equipment they need lots of camera equipment, a fast SLR camera, a couple of good lens (very expensive) camera and HD video.
DD: Can anyone do it
CD: Yes, and not anyone can get lucky and capture the big picture to the right place at the right time, but doing it from day to day requires hard work and dedication to their craft. DD: Paparazzi is perceived as a "pest" should be avoided because they will do anything to get the picture. Are they bad?
CD: Not really. Those who have been in business for awhile have a good relationship with all the celebrities. They usually know how close they can come to someone or who need to use your long lens on.
DD: Is it true that they will literally cause the subject of anger in order to get a more honest, unflattering shots and if not, why do you think that the paparazzi are so loved that fight to break out?
CD: No fights are usually started by overzealous bodyguards and hangers on who do not really understand the business and I think it helps the star. There was a time when the bodyguards are even fired for getting too aggressive
DD: What do the stars and celebrities are photographed who actually enjoy working with the paparazzi
CD:. Hands down, Tom Cruise, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Hugh Jackman, Larry King
DD: What do you know you know who want to avoid them
CD: Gwenyth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Cher, Barbara Streisand DD: Are politicians to resist the Washington scene photographers
CD:. No, the politicos did not initially understand the paparazzi game in DC, but now they realize they are public figures, and the technology has evolved they should try to use it for their benefit
DD: Is it different the next high-level political figures, but as the photo film and television star
CD: ". Why did you get my photos on the streets, not a celebrity," Yes, they often look as if to ask, however, these days all the politicians know they must be visually appeal to the younger market and represent your community. Some are even flattered that their constituents are to see them in magazines.
DD: If the agency covers a geographical area such as Washington, DC, the paparazzi do not follow the celebs and politicians like to leave the city or out of the country [? [/ P>
CD: Not necessarily, but if a politician has a huge (hot) story, you can bet that he or she will be free repom.Fotograf will pay for their transportation, but if you are working with the agency, the agency will pay for airfare, meals and accommodation.
DD: Are the paparazzi are invited to all major events, or they simply have to wait outside while all the celebrities, or type out
CD:. Some moonlight and shoot the red carpet event, but the real hard core photographers do not like this function because they are controlled situations and photos are not worth as much street candid pictures
DD: I also heard that they do not care about the law limits the famous photographs in public places. They are willing to pay a penalty to get great shots. Is it generally the case?
CD: This is not true, because usually most of know that the journal will not buy photos of celebrities in limited areas. The agency also like to get their names in good graces with the celebrities and their public relations people, so that agencies will not jeopardize that standing.
DD: Can you tell me about your personal experience you had with the celeb that you will never forget
I once worked for Paul McCartney in a huge divorce scandal. As the other five, where the paparazzi waiting outside his home in New York, Paul just left and none of the other five have seen him leave. I followed him around the block and then he stopped and posed for me, thinking of those in which images I wanted. I let him through Manhattan without it photographs and went to have dinner. I just waited outside, and then when he came back out, he said that he gave me pictures, so why am I still follow him. I said, "Sir Paul, I'm not getting more photos of you out of respect, but I'm working on assignment for newspapers in London and want to know everything you do today." He started laughing and asked me what the newspapers that, and I told him that the Daily Mail, and he laughed again.
DD: Is there competition from the public (with all digital cameras), who submit great shots in various publications
?CD: Sure, but the difference is, the general public does not know when it consistently and have the patience to be a really great shot. Sometimes you have to let the celebrity to do something that the public is waiting to see. For example, the new couple is rumored to be dating, but they would be denying the general public sees them on the street about it. But the best shot of them will be taken if the photographer knows to wait while holding hands or even kiss. Big Money Shot!
DD: Do you have a staff of writers involved with the celebrity news photos
CD: Yes we have several writers, and try our team of writers as part of their benefits. You could love music and will write about all artists. Others would love to women's fashion and to get the story, but mainly all the celebrity and political news clued.
